Announcing Cracker Barrel on June 8th

Say cheese! It's time for an ISPI Vancouver Cracker Barrel. The evening of June 8th we'll have half a dozen presenters running simultaneous table discussions. The format will be both intereactive and informative. Participants will be able to pick the three they most want to hear.

We are in the process of determining speakers and would like to extend an invitation to all ISPI Vancouver members to submit a mini-proposal.

This is an excellent opportunity for our members to share their experiences and expertise with each other. If you have a topic you can share successfully in about 20 minutes, we want to hear from you.

If you are interested in presenting, send an email to Michael Doody, VP Programs, at mcdoody@shaw.ca by 5pm on Monday, May 10th. In your email, answer these four questions:

  • What's your topic?
  • What's your W.I.I.F.M.? *
  • How can you do it successfully in about 20 minutes?
  • Why you?

Michael will personally be getting back to those who respond.

This is an excellent opportunity for our members to share their experiences and expertise with each other. So we hope to hear from lots of you. If we get more than we can handle this time around, we can always do another similar event in the future.

* W.I.I.F.M. = "What's In It For Me"

Say Cheese!

Submit your mini-proposal to present at the Cracker Barrel by
May 10th at 5pm.

Some food for thought as you prepare your mini-proposal:

The format is flexible... You might do a 10 minute presentation followed by a 10 minute Q&A.... Or you might plan a 15 minute activity followed by a 5 minute debriefing... Or get creative...

Please give some thought to how you'd make your session both informative and interactive, and share your vision in your email.

Special Event with Tara Fenwick

We are continuing to work on details for our 1/2-day workshop with Tara Fenwick the morning of June 22nd, "Evaluating Adult Learning - How to Figure Out What They Really Know, Without Tears". Tara Fenwick is Associate Professor of Adult Education at the University of Alberta.

Here's one detail to wet your whistle: Your registration fee will include a free copy of Tara's book, The Art of Evaluation: A Handbook for Educators and Trainers.

Can't wait for the session? Click here to read the first page of each chapter of the book you'll be receiving.
