Pre-conference information

Next year's conference

The ISPI conference was a huge success this year. They had 1400 people in total, 350 of whom were from 6 different countries….Canada representing about 100. We have over 50 BC’ers at the conference. The keynote, by Chip Bell was very inspirational and got people focused about the importance of connecting at the heart level within organizations. In fact, there were several subsequent sessions I attended which reiterated that same message. Our BC breakfast that we put on drew over 40 members and non-members from Victoria, Gabriola Island, Kitimat and of course, Vancouver. Thursday evening’s event was a blast giving participants a taste of BC – with virtual fishing in Tofino, all kinds of fish and smoked fish, a live band from Quesnel, tattoos, massages and a caricaturist. Fun was definitely had by all. Friday night’s keynote banquet speech was led by Harold Stolovitch and Thiagi, this year’s incoming President gave a very strong message that he is here to serve us – the members.

On a final note, a big thank you to all our Vancouver member red beret volunteers who did a fabulous jobs being hosts and ambassadors at the conference, answering questions, guiding people to good restaurants and locations for their sessions, etc. And of course, you’ll get a chance to find out what some of the sessions were about thanks to our roving reporters who have provided our members with useful writeups….and on that note, remember, next year’s conference is in Dallas – be sure not to miss it!

I really enjoyed the conference--good people, interesting topics. Taking pictures gives you a completely different "angle" on sessions--you spend time watching how people react and how in turn, how the speaker reacts to the audience. Enjoy the pictures! I had fun taking them.

Magnetic Service: Increasing Productivity Through Great Partnerships - This was my favourite session; it was also my first. Further, it was on a topic which I am most passionate about: customer service. The speaker, Chip Bell (Senior Partner, Performance Research Associates Inc.), enthusiastically and with great energy and humour, shared many examples of what service/product providers do to win not only commitment and loyalty from customers, but... The fact that the International Conference was here in Vancouver was a wonderful opportunity. In spite of that, I had my qualms about signing up for the conference because of other commitments and I was not sure what I would get out of it. My qualms were unfounded...
