How long have you been
an ISPI member?
I joined ISPI initially in Montreal probably in 1993! I then joined
Vancouver's chapter when I moved here in 1995 and began as the VP
Communications and moved my way into President Elect and then President.
The best thing about my ISPI involvement:
The learning and for me, it's seeing the growth this chapter has gone
through from a grass roots to a mature organization - watching people
develop and excel in their leadership roles on the Executive! I also had
a hoot being involved when the International Conference came here in
2005 and leading our team of "red hats" to host everyone who came that
year.
Most interesting performance improvement job/project? And why?
Probably my most recent project which
involved helping front-line health care practitioners perform using a
new methodology (big change) in their rounds process and supporting them
through the change process so that they could adopt the new process and
ultimately provide better care to patients. Why this was so interesting
was watching the process as they went through their resistance to the
change and, with support and challenge, came through on the other end,
performing at a higher level and working more effectively as a team.
Accomplishments I’m most proud of
(personally and professionally):
Doing the walk to end breast cancer for
the 3rd year in a row and having raised over $11,000 in the past three
years, two beautiful kids, running my own consulting practice and having
made the bridge from training to organizational development work -
completely solo!
Something hardly anyone knows about me:
That before I got into this field I
studied a year of Interior Design planning that to be my profession
(unfortunately, it wasn't for me!)
Who (actress/actor) would play me in the story of my life:
These are hard questions - probably
someone who's a mix of Kate Hudson, Norah Jones and Rachel McAdams.
My “theme song”-:
Life is a highway
Favorite movie of all
time:
Young at Heart
If there’s anything you’ve learned in
life, it would be…
That we are here to soak up everything
life gives us - the good, the bad and what seems like the ugly and in
each of those experiences, you become a little more aware, a little
stronger and a little more at peace.
What makes you most happy:
A sunny blue sky HOT day
What will your life
legacy be (hopefully!)?
Hopefully having taught my children about
kindness, about taking the high road no matter what is thrown at them
and about making a difference in other people's lives.
