Information plus Technology does not equal Communication When it Comes to Communicating Change

Poor communication is consistently one of the top three reasons major change efforts fail to produce the intended results. Join Kathi Irvine and learn the importance of timing, channels and content of communication to ensure their organization is up to the challenge of leading and managing significant change. Kathi's presentation will demonstrate in a mini case study format how a major organizational change can be communicated. The emphasis will be on when to start communicating, the best channels for communication (none of which are websites or email) and the content based on outcomes not intentions.

Kathi Irvine

Kathi Irvine is a core consultant with Sundance Consulting and is an accomplished facilitator and presenter with strong skill in helping organizations maximize their employees' success during change. For over 20 years Sundance has guided organizations in a variety of industries and countries to achieve successful change through our integrated approach which weaves strategy, change and transition together with strong, effective communication.

Performance Improvement Through a Better User Experience

What should a performance improvement specialist know about usability? Morena Beaulieu and Jennifer Lamb will share a fewa tips on ensuring desired performance through usability principles, whether you can affect product development or not.

Highly usable products (such as manuals, job aids, training materials, websites and applications) are easy to learn and remember, efficient, satisfying and visually pleasing, and allow users to quickly recover from errors. By identifying and fixing usability flaws, user performance is improved through:

  • Reduced learning time
  • Increased proficiency
  • Greater productivity
  • Improved quality
  • Greater user satisfaction

Assessing Employee Effectiveness Using 360 Gap Analysis

Using a quick diagnostic approach, you can easily determine if an employee is effective in peforming his/her role in the organization.
By systematically analyzing the relevant performance attributes (Key Performance Indicators) relating to the employee's job outcome, you can have an in-depth understanding of each employee's effectiveness profile. Alvin Chok will show you how this can be easily done. The approach looks at three main categories of performance attributes: Expertise, Communication, Approach. With a better understanding of the employee's effectiveness profile, you can provide a more targeted training program or specific guidance in coaching/mentoring the employee.
