Great Job Aids-Tips and Techniques. To

of the most critical design decisions related to developing training is whether
to store training information in long-term memory or put it in the performer's
hands. The time it takes to develop job aids is three to fives times shorter than
developing instruction-to-recall-saving the organization time and money. When
job aids are used as training support for traditional training, further time and
cost savings are realized. Not to mention, job aids solve retention problems and
result in more accurate performance. In
our current climate of cross training, job combining, and constant process improvement,
training to memory is often not the most cost-effective approach. Structured OJT
and development of job aids are more useful. Job aids are also useful in defining
step-by-step job procedures where training is not the primary target. In
this fast-paced session, you can expect to take away solid tips and techniques
in the following areas: - Determine
the need for job information (training)
- Critical
factors that help decide the appropriateness of job aids
- Formats
for job aids
- Plus,
hand-on practice in constructing a job aid
