On February 8th, join us for our guest speakers Erica Groschler, Andrea Shalinsky and Linda Waddell, and Project Management Survival: How Not to Get Voted Off the Island.

Strong 'survival' skills are necessary to manage instructional design and performance improvement projects that have complex organizational politics, constraints, and competing goals.

Join us for a great interactive evening and learn to:

  • Identify potential risks to the success of performance improvement projects
  • Describe the impact of these risks to project deliverables, timelines, project team members, stakeholders, budget, and the client
  • Create strategies to mitigate and overcome these risks
  • Identify critical project management support strategies

This session, presented by seasoned 'survivors' (consultants), uses an interactive case study approach to help participants identify project management risks and develop strategies to do more than simply 'survive' managing their projects. This approach will contribute to the development of effective HPT practices, techniques, processes, and tools for project management survival.

Erica Groschler is a seasoned instructional designer and performance consultant. She has been fortunate to work for 10 years for Harold Stolovitch & Associates and to be mentored by Erica Keeps. Erica Groschler now runs her own training and performance consulting practice and has developed many solutions for clients both in Canada and the U.S. Erica has a strong project management background having managed multiple projects, virtual teams, projects with high levels of visibility, complexity, and moving targets. She relies heavily on HPT and project management systems and processes to guide her when faced with project challenges. Erica is a Past-President and honorary life member of ISPI Vancouver and is currently the VP Conference Chair for 2005 for the Vancouver chapter.

Andrea Shalinsky has worked in the training and performance consulting field for almost a decade and has benefited from taking her MSc in Instruction and Performance Technology through distance learning at Boise State University. Andrea has had an opportunity to work with client organizations in government, high tech, automotive, transportation, retail, and manufacturing industries assisting in the analysis, design, development, and training implementation. Andrea worked directly with Harold D. Stolovitch on two research projects: a best practices study on training and performance improvement initiatives within leading companies in North America and a study of the relationship between motivation, incentives and workplace performance. Andrea currently runs her own training and performance consulting firm and is a member of ISPI's Vancouver chapter.
