Improving
Through Improv March
8, 2005

On March
8th, join us for Improving Through Impov,
presented by David Gouthro and Alisdair Smith.
Improvisational
Theatre (improv) has been a core curriculum component in virtually every school
of acting and/or performing arts for many years. More relevant from the perspective
of ISPI members, it is a powerful method for improving the performance of the
organizations they work with as well as providing individual practitioners with
professional growth opportunities. Participants
will engage in two or three easily duplicable (is that a real word?!?) improv
activities that can be applied in a wide variety of performance improvement scenarios.
Think of them as frames that can hold a wide variety of content components. After
each improv activity, participants will explore where and how it might be used
in a variety of organizational interventions. As well, we will look at how learning
from the activity can improve the performance of individual practitioners, too. You
will leave this session with: at least two improv activities you can immediately
choose to integrate into your work; a greater understanding of the opportunities
for using improv as a performance technologist; a greater appreciation for the
improvisational talent amongst the other participants; and
a healthy dose of fun! | | | | | | | | | David
Gouthro
is President of The Consulting Edge and has been a frequent presenter at Vancouver
ISPI Chapter meetings. David
has been a member of ISPI (and its earlier iterations) since 1980, when he was
one of the founding members of the Toronto ISPI Chapter. His consulting practice
is a study in improv, having grown for the last 17 years with no obvious plan
or structure! For
more on David's work, visit The
Consulting Edge website. | David
