HOW DO WE GET LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT TO STICK?
PRESENTERS: DAVID CORY AND ROBERT GILFOYLE
TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 12, 2006

September 12th event

David Cory

Robert Gilfoyle

In September, our speakers will be David Cory and Robert Gilfoyle who will speak on the How Do We Get Learning and Development To Stick?

Research consistently confirms what we intuitively know; the majority of skills and knowledge learned during training are not transferred to the job.

"No more than 10% of training expenditures actually result in transfer to the job" Baldwin & Ford (1988, 1997).

As a consequence the return on an organization’s considerable training and development investment is much lower than hoped for.

The implications for this situation are serious. At a time when the business environment has never been more competitive, organizations are missing out on a significant proportion of the 'bottom-line' value highly trained employees could deliver.

Come hear David Cory and Robert Gilfoyle of Altia Performance Consulting as they present:

  • An overview of the best research on transfer of training
  • What trainers and others have done to address this problem, and the outcomes from their initiatives
  • The distinctive approach taken to this issue by those within the Human Performance Technology field, and the progress they have made
  • The latest web enabled technology that has been developed by Jack Zenger and his colleagues to ensure trainee accountability for implementing learned skills and managerial accountability for monitoring post training skill implementation.

Prepare for a fast-paced, content-rich, highly interactive session with handouts and other take away materials.
