October 11th,
our guest speakers will be Kevin Savage and Margy Hayden
who will speak on Improving Performance Through Thinking
Skills. Edward
DeBono introduced the concept of improved thinking techniques several decades
ago. These principles of thinking techniques, creativity and organized group thinking
can greatly improve the performance of individuals, groups and organizations.
This session will be an introduction (or review) of the 6-Thinking Hats and at
least one lateral thinking technique to help you and your organization work better

Savage has
spent over 30 years working in the Information Systems environment in the UK and
Canada and is actively involved in the Vancouver IT community. Kevin is currently
the Manager of IS Quality and Performance with the Insurance Corporation of BC.
Kevin is a regular speaker at conferences in the US and Canada to mainly IT audiences
and is a regular attendee at Gartner and META conferences on IT strategy and industry
trends. He has been a guest presenter on the SFU MBA program and instructor in
the SFU BBA program. Kevin's
areas of expertise include, Management and Leadership development, Organizational
Change and Creative Thinking techniques. He is also currently involved in strategic
planning and developing IT Quality metrics including benchmarking and IT standards.
Kevin is a graduate of the University of Dublin, Trinity College. | | | | | | | | | Margy
Hayden
works for the Insurance Corporation
of British Columbia (ICBC). At ICBC, Margy has served as instructional designer
and manager on a variety of projects involving computer-based training, organizational
change and IT technical training. She currently manages ICBC's Information Services
Education & Usability Department. Margy has been a member of ISPI Vancouver
for seven years and has held executive positions of membership and finance, and
