Eggcellent Activity

Eggs keeping each other company!

For the Second Annual ISPI Social held yesterday, Carol Anne Fried, VP Membership, made a point of getting us all into a ‘fun’ mood when we walked in the room.  The first Eggcellent activity had each participant select an egg, name it, and decorate it as well.  I started smiling immediately and felt like a little kid gingerly holding my delicate egg while drawing a face using oversized magic markers. The egg was our client, our conversation piece, and our little treasure for the evening.

As a social, one of the objectives is to mingle and get to know others.  Carol Ann made sure that we had ample opportunity to do this by getting us involved in various games throughout the evening.  Two that were memorable for me were:

  • A lively rendition of Ultimate Rock, Scissors, and Paper, which had everyone on their feet chanting the names of competition winners. Now, this might seem a little silly but it was amazing to see how motivating and inspirational this activity could be, even if you happened to loose your round in the game.
  • The Imagination List provided an opportunity to turn off the left side of your brain for a while to answer questions like “What colour is the letter “s”?” and “How does the letter “M” feel?”  During our debrief, it was noted that this activity could be a good ‘warm up’ for a team that is looking for new and creative ways to address a problem.

Are there others interested in sharing their key take aways from the evening?
