Executive Council Biographies

Tyler Lee

Dan McFaull
President

Dan McFaull holds a Post-graduate Diploma in Continuing Education (1977) from the University of Saskatchewan and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (1982) from IMD at Université de Lausanne, Switzerland.

With a thirty year career in the field of human performance and instruction, Dan has worked as a consultant, trainer, curriculum and instructional designer, manager, mediator and facilitator. Dan is an experienced project manager and has organized and led teams of specialists in the successful delivery of multi-year, multi-million dollar projects. He is skilled in solving business and industry problems with performance solutions.

Dan has designed, developed and delivered training systems to support performance in a wide variety of industries and organizations, including:
. Development and implementation of a wide variety of training and performance improvement programs from initial needs assessment to final evaluation.
. Development of training curricula across a subject matter spectrum that includes: leading edge technologies, skilled trades apprenticeship,
management, sales processes, heavy equipment, mining and mill operations, oil and gas processing, computer systems and networking.
. Consulting in the design, development and adoption of competence assurance systems for industry and for regulators.
. Regular teaching appointments (1975 – 1984) with the University of Saskatchewan – College of Education and the University of Regina – Schools of Human Justice and Social Work; research and teaching in the
areas of adult learning systems and small group behavior.

Inge Zegel

Inge Zegel, Past-President & Interim VP Communications

Inge Zegel is a facilitator and coach focusing on process and productivity skills. For the past seven years she has been facilitating the Priority Management “Working Smart” series of email and workload management programs and coaching clients on effective workload management skills.

Inge has close to 20 years experience as a training, training development and technical communications consultant and has worked with companies such as JDS Uniphase, Pivotal Corporation, Creo Products, Motorola, MPR Teltech, Nortel, MDI, and BC Hydro.Considering herself a bit of a Luddite, but with a knack for technology, she works closely with companies and individuals to help people become more effective, feel less stressed, and gain a stronger sense of accomplishment through effective works habits and by optimizing the technology available in the workplace today. Inge has a Diploma in Adult Education and has studied Organizational Development and Leadership at BCIT.

Carol Ann Fried, Empress of Friedom Training Services, is passionate and committed to bringing playfulness and laughter into the workplace. Best known for helping people discover their JoySpot™, Carol Ann has been a professional keynote speaker, facilitator and consultant with business, education, health, government, technology and the helping professions for over twenty-five years. Her most popular presentations are in the area of Workplace Health and Wellness.

Carol Ann obtained her M.Ed. in Counselling Psychology from McGill University in Montreal. She received her B.A. (Honours) in three areas of study: Psychology, Sociology and Romance Languages from Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia. She has enjoyed faculty appointments at McGill University and the University of British Columbia, where she taught graduate students in Counselling Psychology.

Carol Ann is the proud recipient of the coveted second prize in CBC Radio’s world-famous answering machine contest. Her latest creative foray is into the world of improvisational theatre, where she is co-founder and performs with Vancouver Playback Theatre Troupe. Frequently seen eating jalapeno potato chips dipped in low-fat yoghurt, she absolutely adores Galiano Island, singing harmony and pets of any kind, especially dogs. Born and raised in Halifax, Carol Ann lived for fourteen years in Montreal, and has been in Vancouver since 1986. Carol Ann exudes a natural creativity of mind and spirit that stimulates a motivational learning experience. Her sessions are invariably hailed as practical, dynamic and fun.

Brian Fraser

Brian Fraser is the lead provocteur of Jazzthink, a speaking and coaching enterprise that uses the workings and wisdom of jazz to improve the performance of teams in all kinds of organizations.  Prior to launching Jazzthink in 2002, Brian was dean of the Presbyterian college at UBC for 16 years, where he developed a national training institute to improve the performance of those who govern Presbyterian congregations across Canada.  He taught leadership and organizational development at Vancouver School of Theology as well.  In addition to Jazzthink, he is currently director of the Core Alignment Professional Coach Training Program at the Demers Group and continues to serve as part-time minister at Brentwood Presbyterian Church in Burnaby, BC.

Carol Sutton

Carol J. Sutton, Cert.ConRes. conducts facilitation, organizational planning, team building, training and coaching activities – with a particular focus on workplace conflict management – designed to improve clients’ business results. She is in strategic partnership with other professionals whose expertise encompasses human resources management, personal effectiveness, and leadership skills. Her methods include a proprietary program – Clear Communication, Face-to-Face© – that teaches the skills employees need to produce better results through cooperation and mutual understanding. Carol uses psychometric instruments to help people gain insight into their personalities and behaviours, including the Strength Deployment Inventory© (a relationship building and communications skills tool), the Thomas Kilmann Conflict Mode Instrument, and DISC assessments.Today she is professional in conflict resolution, having received two certificates from the Justice Institute of British Columbia. Her first career was in marketing communication and senior communications counsel, which formed the basis of CJS Communications Inc., the consultancy she founded in 1985. Carol graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor’s degree in public relations, cum laude, in 1972; earned public relations accreditation (APR) 12 years later, and was admitted to the CPRS College of Fellows in 2004.
